Frozen pipe, dead water heater or a sewer backup at midnight? Geek Plumbing Services is available 24/7 at (828) 344-5244.
Emergency Plumbing Services
First things first: if water is pouring out somewhere, shut off the main water valve, then call (828) 344-5244. Geek Plumbing Services is your 24/7 emergency plumber in Asheville, NC, for the moments when plumbing won't wait for Monday morning. Frozen and burst pipes, a water heater that gave out, a sewer backup or a drain that's flooding the floor: call or text day or night, and we'll talk you through what to do next while we get moving. Most of our calls come from homes, so emergency service is simply part of our everyday residential plumbing work.
Emergencies We Handle, Day or Night

Burst Pipes & Major Leaks
Water spraying under a sink, running down a wall or dripping through the ceiling. We find where it's coming from and stop it.

No Hot Water
A tank that's leaking onto the floor or a water heater that quit entirely. We repair it when we can and replace it when we can't.

Sewer Backups
Sewage coming up through a floor drain or the lowest tub in the house is a stop-everything moment.

Flooding Drains
A shower or floor drain backing up, or a clog that has every sink in the house gurgling.

Overflowing Toilets
Turn the little valve behind the toilet clockwise to stop the water, then call if it won't clear or keeps happening.

Water in the Crawl Space
Standing water under the house, or a sump pump that quit in the middle of a storm.

Something Else?
Strange noises, no water at all or a problem you can't name. Describe it and we'll figure it out.
Smell Gas?
Get everyone outside first, then call your gas utility or 911 from there. Once it's safe, we're licensed to repair gas lines.
Frozen & Burst Pipes in Western North Carolina
Mountain winters are rough on plumbing. When the temperature drops hard, pipes in crawl spaces, along exterior walls and in unheated garages freeze first, and water expands as it turns to ice. That pressure is what splits a pipe. The sneaky part is that a cracked pipe often doesn't leak until it thaws, so the flood tends to show up the morning after the cold snap, not during it.
If a faucet only gives you a trickle on a frigid morning, a frozen pipe is the likely culprit. Leave that faucet open, open the cabinet doors under nearby sinks so warm air can reach the pipes, and never use an open flame to thaw anything. With frozen pipes, a plumber's first job is finding the ice. The second is checking for cracks before the water goes back on. See water? Shut off the main and call (828) 344-5244 for burst pipe repair. Homes on a private well have one more spot to watch: the exposed piping around the well equipment, which our well services cover.
Geek tip: find your main shut-off valve now, before you need it. In many homes around here it's in the crawl space or basement where the water line comes in. On a well, look near the pressure tank. Tag it so anyone in the house can find it fast.

What counts as a plumbing emergency?
If water is going where it shouldn't and you can't stop it, that's an emergency. So is sewage backing up, no water at all or a water heater that's leaking. A dripping faucet or a slow drain can usually wait for a regular appointment. Not sure? Ask us. We'll be honest about whether it can wait.
What should I do before the plumber arrives?
Shut off the main water valve (or the small valve under the fixture), switch a leaking water heater off at the breaker or its gas control, move valuables out of the way and stay out of standing water near outlets. Then snap a few photos for your insurance company.
My pipes froze. What now?
Open the faucet that pipe feeds so melting water has somewhere to go, then warm the area gently with a hair dryer or a space heater kept at a safe distance. No torches. If the pipe has already split, shut off the main and call us. Once things thaw, a whole home plumbing inspection is a smart way to find other pipes at risk before next winter.
Do you handle sewer backups in the middle of the night?
Yes. We're a true 24-hour plumber, and a backup is an emergency any time. Stop using water in the house (every flush and every shower adds to it), keep people and pets away from the mess and call (828) 344-5244.
Do you handle emergencies for businesses too?
Yes. The same 24/7 number covers offices, shops and rental properties. Our commercial plumbing page has more on how we work with businesses.
