Kitchen & Bathroom Remodeling

The Plumbing Behind Your New Kitchen or Bath

New layout, new fixtures, same honest plumbers: Geek Plumbing Services handles the pipes so your remodel can keep moving.

Kitchen & Bathroom Remodel Plumbing

Every great-looking kitchen or bathroom has a lot of plumbing hiding behind it. Geek Plumbing Services handles bathroom remodel plumbing and kitchen remodel plumbing around Asheville, NC: the rough-in, moving supply and drain lines, and installing the sinks, toilets, showers and tubs that make the new room work. For the rest of the remodel, our sister company Geek Construction Team has you covered. We're the plumbing side of that same company, so the pipes and the project come from people who already work together.

What Bathroom Remodel Plumbing Covers

A bathroom refresh can be as simple as new fixtures or as big as a whole new layout. Here's the plumbing side of it:

  • Plumbing rough-in. New supply lines, drains and vents run to where your fixtures will live, before the walls and floors close up.
  • Moving fixtures. Want the toilet on the other wall or the vanity where the tub used to be? We reroute the supply and drain lines to make the new layout work.
  • Shower installation. The valve, the drain and the supply lines behind the tile, set at the right height and in the right spot.
  • Bathtub installation. Swapping a tub for a walk-in shower, a shower for a tub, or adding a freestanding soaker: the drain, supply and valve are our part.
  • Fixture installs. Vanity sinks, faucets and toilet installation, connected, leak-checked and ready to use.

Kitchen Remodel Plumbing

Kitchens are all about the sink zone. Moving the sink under a new window, adding a second prep sink or putting one in an island all mean new supply and drain lines, and sometimes a new vent route. We can add or replace a garbage disposal while the cabinets are open, and if the old drains are slow, a round of drain cleaning before they get tied into the new setup saves trouble later.

One more thing worth thinking about early: if the new bathroom includes a big soaking tub or a second shower, make sure your water heater can keep up. It's a lot easier to plan for now than to discover on the first chilly bath.

Plumbing Rough-In: Why It Matters

Rough-in is the plumbing that goes in before drywall and tile: the pipes inside the walls and floors that everything else depends on. Finish plumbing comes later, when the fixtures get set. Getting the rough-in right is the whole ballgame, because once the tile is down, moving a drain a few inches turns into a much bigger job.

That's why we like to see the plan, and the fixtures you've picked, before any pipe gets cut. Valve heights, drain locations and supply connections all depend on the exact fixture. Lots of Asheville homes sit over a crawl space, which often makes it easier to get underneath and run new lines, and we'll tell you what yours allows.

Remodel Plumbing FAQs

Still have questions? Call us at (828) 344-5244 or browse our full plumbing FAQ.

What plumbing does a bathroom remodel need?

It depends on how much is changing. Keeping the layout and swapping fixtures may only take new valves, supply lines and connections. Moving the toilet, shower or vanity means new rough-in work for drains, vents and supply lines. We'll walk through your plan and tell you which camp you're in.

Can you move a toilet or shower to a different spot?

Often, yes. The real question is how the drain gets there: a toilet needs a large drain with the right slope and a vent. In a home over a crawl space, getting under the floor is usually easier than in one built on a slab. We'll look and tell you what it takes.

Who handles the rest of the remodel?

Geek Construction Team, our sister company, handles the remodel itself. We're the plumbing side of the same company, so you can bring both of us in or call us for just the plumbing.

Can I pick out my own fixtures?

Tell us what you have in mind before the rough-in starts. Valve heights, drain positions and supply connections depend on the exact model, so knowing the fixture early saves headaches later.

Can you add a sink to a kitchen island?

Island sinks take more planning than a sink on a wall, because there's no wall to run a vent up. The drain has to go down through the floor and connect to your system with a vent setup that meets code. We'll look at what's under your floor and explain the options.
